Editor: A recent article complaining about the minister of finance's refusal to increase the personal exemption caught my attention. I think everyone would welcome a decrease in taxes but this is not the time to do it.

The government is trying to bring the deficit under control. I did find the example given in the article amusing.

They gave an example of a household earning $60,000 will pay $138 more in taxes. This amounts to 40 cents per day which would hardly have any impact on a family. I also find it amusing that the same people that believe our taxes are too high also believe the deficit is too high.

There are those that want to increase spending on addictions, healthcare, a guaranteed income for those in need and more jobs created, but less taxes?
