Driver charged after striking tree
A 67-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged with several offences under the Highway Traffic Act after striking a tree on Hunt Avenue just before 1 a.m.
A spokesman for Charlottetown Police Services said that alcohol did not factor into the collision.
What did factor into the collision was the failure of the accused to properly scrape and clean his windshield.
The inability to clearly see where he was going was definitely a factor, Deputy Police Chief Gary McGuigan indicated.
The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any appreciable injuries but the vehicle sustained extensive damage.
McGuigan strongly advises motorists to take a few extra minutes to clean and scrape their windshields properly before driving anywhere.
