Summerside Police deal with impaired drivers
SUMMERSIDE - Summerside police have charged two men for impaired driving and arrested another man for assault.
At 3 a.m. Friday, officers on patrol noticed a vehicle speeding while travelling south on Central Street. The vehicle was pulled over, and the driver, a 33-year-old Summerside man, showed signs of impairment.
He was arrested at the scene and provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit.
He will appear in court at a later date to answer to impaired driving related charges. In addition, the man was driving with a suspended license.
Shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday, police received a complaint of an impaired driver who had left a Notre Dame Street business.
The driver, a 62-year-old Summerside man, was located and failed a roadside sobriety test. He provided breath samples in excess of the legal limit and will appear in court at a later date for impaired driving related charges.
At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Summerside police were dispatched to a complaint of an assault that occurred at a Granville Street restaurant.
An employee of the restaurant was assaulted by a 17-year-old youth who had left the area.
The boy was arrested a few minutes later after being involved in a second assault, which was a domestic-related incident.
The youth will appear in court to answer to two charges of assault, as well as a breach of his probation.
Also, as a result of this incident, a 19-year-old Summerside man faces a breach of probation charge.
