Environment Canada warns Islanders to take extra care when walking or driving
Ice is currently coating Prince County roads and walkways, warns Environment Canada.
It updated it’s special weather statement at 4 p.m.
“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” it says in the special bulletin.
“Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”
The mixed bag of weather hitting the Island now is seeing mixtures of flurries, freezing rain, or rain depending on what part of the province is affected. While the Prince County statement remains, all other special weather statements and warnings for the Island have now been removed.
It will all change to rain by midnight, said Environment Canada. It advised Islanders to continue to monitor alerts and forecasts.
“To report severe weather, send an email to weatherASPC@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #PEIstorm,” said the federal agency.
