Tignish names new fire chief

TIGNISH - Allan Gavin has been promoted from deputy chief to chief of the Tignish Fire Department.

Gavin’s promotion was recommended by the department during its annual meeting and endorsed by Tignish council. He replaces outgoing chief Harley Perry who has resigned from the department.

Council has accepted the resignations of Perry and firefighter Claude Dorgan and the appointment of Davey Murphy as a firefighter.

Tignish council endorsed all of the department’s executive positions. Shawn A’Hearn takes over as deputy chief, Vance Keough is department president, Paulette Arsenault is secretary and Cindy Gaudet is bookkeeper.
