Dawn Alan named true Rotarian

The Rotary Club of Hillsborough has given its True Rotarian Award to Dawn Alan.

Duncan Conrad founded the award in memory of Harry MacLauchlan. It is presented to a Rotarian whose activities are a result of his or her personal goodwill and a sense that the world will be a better place as a result of his or her quiet work and effort in Rotary.

Club president Pat Hughes made the presentation. He said once he became president, he came to realize that Alan plays a huge part in the club’s success.

“Dawn tends to shy away from the spotlight and prefers to work tirelessly behind the scenes taking great pride in seeing her fellow Rotarians shine,” he said. “Dawn’s community is one of her passions and she has carried that passion into significant work in the name of Rotary.”

Alan, a past-president and secretary of the Hillsborough Club, is currently co-chairwoman of both the membership and program committees. She facilitates public relations for the club and updates its social media site.

A key member of the gala royale committee, she contributes her skills in event planning and management every year to the club’s flagship fundraiser

Dawn is the definition of a true professional regardless of the setting. Workplace or community based, she sets the bar very high. A well deserved honour.
