Electric power on P.E.I. up, down as storm continues

Stanley Bridge area affected late afternoon

Maritime Electric is reporting some customers without power as the storm on P.E.I. continues through today.

"We have about 1,500 people out in Stanley Bridge," said spokeswoman Kim Griffin in a statement issued at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

About 15 minutes later Griffin reported that power had been restored for all but the Taylor Road.

Finally, at 4:30 came news that all power has been restored on the Island.

A tree down on the line was the cause.

Then darkness fell, the precipitation and wind continued and more reports stated coming in.

6:30 p.m. – Power out for about 15 minutes in West Royalty but it is all restored. It was a few hundred customers, said Griffin.

6:40 p.m. - Approximately 50 customers were suddenly without power in the Victoria Cross area plus a few scattered outages Island-wide. "Crews working on these outages," said Griffin.

7:30 p.m. – Outages ramping up. Now 700 customers without power in Victoria Cross area. Other communites now without power include Albion, Alliston, Brooklyn, Caledonia, Gaspereaux, Heatherdale, Kilmuir, Lewes, Peters Road, St Marys Road, Stratford, Sturgeon, Whim Road.
