Tampered potatoes

P.E.I. RCMP say the most recent case of a metal object found in a potato in Nova Scotia does not appear to have a link to P.E.I.

On Nov. 20, a Pictou County resident discovered what appeared to be a brad nail in a potato from Country Magic Produce purchased from the New Glasgow, N.S., Sobeys.

Leanne Butler with the P.E.I. RCMP says this case is not like the other cases of metal objects, mostly sewing needles, found in potatoes from P.E.I. beginning in October 2014.

She notes the Country Magic potatoes are not an Island brand.

“We can say 100 per cent, unequivocally that these potatoes did not come from P.E.I.,” she told The Guardian Friday.
