Person injured by exploding shotgun shell thrown into fire during Stratford pit party

RCMP are looking to speak with people who attended a pit party in Stratford Tuesday night after one of the party-goers was injured by a shotgun shell thrown into a fire.

The RCMP have not released any details about the person who was injured except that he was male. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries in the early morning hours of Sept. 3 after the shell exploded in the fire.

The party was held off Clearview Drive in Stratford.

Anyone who attended the party who may have witnessed the incident is asked to get in touch with Const. Neil Martin at 902-368-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

    Shot gun shell don't explode in fire, they melt

      Shotgun shells do explode in a fire, the powder charge will explode. It will be nowhere near like shooting from a shotgun because the barrel confines the explosion and propels the BBs. There is still a chance a BB could be travelling at a high speed if a shell was chucked in the fire.
