STRATFORD — Keith MacLean has announced he is seeking a seat on Stratford Town Council in the Nov. 3 election.

MacLean has experience sitting on town committees: two years on the safety services committee, which has as part of its objective to provide oversight for the policing of the town through liaising with the Stratford RCMP, monitoring crime statistics, public safety bylaws or programs and recommending changes to the strength of the local police force.

For the last two years, MacLean has served on the infrastructure committee which has the role of overseeing the development, management and maintenance of all town and utility infrastructure, facilities and equipment.

His formal education includes a bachelor in psychology and a masters of business administration. He says the latter will be beneficial while serving as a town councilor.

The evidence-based management approach studied during the MBA program has provided the skills of risk management, program development and streamlining operations, all of which will be beneficial when working to make Stratford one of Atlantic Canada’s best family communities, he said.

Stratford is the community of choice for MacLean and his wife, Maki.

Their eldest daughter entered Grade 1 at Glen Stewart Elementary in 2009 and all three daughters will be heading to Stratford schools this year.

Along with volunteering on the town committees, MacLean has been a local soccer coach and is past president of the Stratford Rotary Club.

He can be contacted by email at islandkeith@eastlink.ca or by telephone at 902-940-7151.
