SOUTH GRANVILLE – Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that was seen at an incident near the Big Boot Range in South Granville on Saturday night.

Queens District RCMP responded to the call at 7 p.m.

RCMP Const. James Perry, with Queens District RCMP, say three females were horse back riding when loud noises spooked their horses causing one female to fall from the fleeing animal.

As a result that female received minor injuries, was treated and released at the scene.

“An unknown vehicle was observed parked in the area,” said Perry.  “The vehicle departed prior to police attendance. It is not known at this point if the vehicle is involved or not. Police are asking the public if you have any information about this incident, please call.”

Police have not confirmed it, but those involved in the incident believe the loud noise may have been a shot from a gun.

To Spooky Woods & Gun Shy: Please get your facts straight before leaving such uneducated and ignorant comments. My teenage daughter was one of the riders and they have riden in this area thousands of times. They are certainly familiar with the sounds coming from the gun range in the distance as are the horses they were riding. This incident happened at close range with 3 bangs, loud enough to scare all the horses. One rider was thrown from her horse and injured her leg due to one of the other horses trampling it due to the commotion. After the bangs, the people jumped in their car and sped off. They didn't check to see if any of these girls or horses were okay. Someone could have been very seriously injured or even killed. Have some respect for those involved before leaving such stupid comments.
