A 41-year-old woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend while he slept will remain in custody until at least next week after a brief appearance in court Wednesday.

Marlo Leanne Docherty appeared before a justice of the peace in Charlottetown for a show-cause hearing to determine if she should remain in custody until her case is dealt with.

The proceedings were adjourned and Docherty consented to remain in custody until April 11 for the show cause hearing.

Docherty was in tears as she walked through the courtroom in shackles and at times sobbed throughout the proceedings.

She has been in custody since Monday after she was arrested and charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing the victim with a kitchen knife.
