Car stuck in snow bank leads to drunk driving charge

A 27-year-old Milton area man has been charged with impaired driving following a single-vehicle accident on Mount Edward Road Monday.

A spokesman for Charlottetown Police Services said officers responded to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision at 5:38 p.m.

Upon arrival at the scene police found the vehicle in question had left the road and struck a snow bank.

Police initiated a drug recognition test which determined the accused was impaired by drugs.

A passenger in that vehicle was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with what police described as a non-life threatening injury.

The accused will appear in provincial court at a later date.

Charlottetown police are also investigating the theft of a motor vehicle in the downtown core early Tuesday morning

A spokesman for police said the vehicle, a white 2008 Toyota Highlander bearing licence plate 356QC, was parked on Queen St., near Sydney St. at the time of the theft.
