I Grew up near there and my grandmother told me it was because they manufactured or sold lobster plugs on that street . Which were wooden pegs that kept the lobsters from biting off claws when kept or shipped alive .

Plug Street got it's name years ago in the winter time because when the wind blows in of Malpeque Bay the drifting snow usually makes the street impassible.

Good research! Shouldn't all of our roads be named plug street then?
