City man arrested for assault with weapon, drug possession for purposes of trafficking

A 28-year-old Charlottetown man has been charged for assault with a weapon, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana for the purposes of trafficking after a disturbance outside Murphy’s Community Centre Friday night.

Charlottetown police responded to the incident on Richmond Street at approximately 11:45 p.m.

The man was jailed at the provincial correctional centre and will be appearing in provincial court at a later date.

Police said no injuries were sustained as a result of the assault.
