Some people who know say Belgium is the land of beer with a brewing tradition dating back to the time of the first crusades, but for a few days at least P.E.I is a place for beer lovers to congregate.

The Prince Edward Island Beer Festival is being held at the Charlottetown Event Grounds with brewers big and small participating. This gives Islanders a chance to sample beer and ales they would not normally get in the province, although the P.E.I Liquor Control Commission is bringing in a much wider choice of beer and ales.

The festival has representatives and samples from brewers in P..E.I, across the Maritimes, Ontario, Quebec, the United States and internationally.

The final tasting is Saturday night 6-9 p.m., but then after the tasting the band takes over.

First time I have agreed with you, Garth. But give the Rickards red Irish ale a try and you may like it more than the Keith's red. I find the Keith's has a weak taste.

Pumphouse Firechief Ale is one of the best micro beers in Canada. The same brewery was the first with blueberry flavoured beer. For the large breweries Keiths Red Ale is great too. I am looking fwd to tasting Campbell 's new ale from Rose Valley. England and Belgium still produce the finest ales and lagers. Beer in moderation is good for one's health.
