More health care woes for residents in West Prince.
Health P.E.I. has announced the O’Leary Health Centre walk-in clinic will be closed for the remainder of today, Jan. 8, after the physician scheduled to provide coverage at the clinic became ill.
Ambulatory services will continue as scheduled.
In non-urgent situations, Islanders are encouraged to visit their family physician’s office or a walk-in clinic.
However, anyone with urgent medical needs should call 9-1-1 or seek immediate
medical care at the nearest hospital emergency department, such as
Western Hospital in Alberton or Prince County Hospital in Summerside.
Now earlier this month, Health P.E.I. announced that emergency services were being disrupted for nearly half the month of January at Western Hospital in Alberton because of a physician shortage.
Western Hospital’s emergency department will be closed overnight for 11 nights in total.
The emergency department will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (closed overnight) on the following days: Jan. 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 16, 18, 19, 24, 26 and 29.
Now on Jan. 13 the emergency department at Western Hospital will be shutdown for a full 24-hour period from 8 a.m. until 8 a.m. the next morning.
