Paulette Soloman is resigning as CEO of P.E.I. 2014 Inc.

Speaking on behalf of the PEI 2014 Inc. board and community advisory committee, John Horrelt issued a news release stating Soloman has tendered her resignation for personal reasons.

“The PEI 2014 Inc board of directors and community advisory committee is indebted to Ms. Soloman for the vision, energy and passion she has brought to laying the foundation for the sesquicentennial celebrations in 2014," said Horrelt in the release. “We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.”

In 2014, Canadians will mark the 150th anniversary (sesquicentennial) of the historic 1864 Charlottetown Conference, which paved the way to Canadian Confederation. P.E.I. 2014 Inc. is facilitating the planning, promotion and implementation of the sesquicentennial.

Islanders don't need a million dollar party, any more than Plan B - but who is listening to Islanders. A true gift to remember our history would be a museum.

Has anyone thought that she has a young family at home and a husband in a high stress job, and maybe she wants to be home and keep her family going in a possitive direction?

There is no need for any staff or those silly commercials. Do not forget the insane idea of thenew MLA bldg. and the deal cut with the judges. 2014 is just a cover for that scam. Ghiz and Jenkins has staff working on that one for months. Sickening.

Disband the whole Commission and put all the allocated funding into perserving Island "history", namely a Museum!

I would like to laugh because this whole thing is a joke.I can't though, because when I think of the money thats going to be wasted I want to cry! Cry for the familys that won't have a christmas, the elderly that have to turn the heat back(to save money)even when they are cold, for young people that can't find work.(unless your "connected".and for the average Islander that will be paying for this party long after the photo shoots are done and all the members of the house have sobered up!!

Let's stop this silly charade and unnecessary expenditure right now! PEI cannot afford to celebrate a conference that it ended up rejecting anyway! Just mark the day in September 2014 with a speech by Ghiz down at the legislature steps dressed in his track suit. I'm sure that tens of thousands will turn out to hear him speak!

Planning a party with millions of dollars to play with must be tough. Especially when many people feel PEI is so far into debt that this non essential spending is wrong.
