The Cornwall/Charlottetown KOA Campground has been awarded the 2014 KOA President’s and Founder’s Award by Kampgrounds of America Inc., the world’s largest system of family-friendly campgrounds.

The awards were presented recently at KOA’s annual international convention in Austin, Tex. KOA is celebrating its 51th Anniversary this year.

The awards are presented annually to campgrounds that receive the highest scores in customer service from their campers and also receive top scores in KOA’s annual quality review.

The founder’s award is named in honour of Dave Drum, who founded KOA on the banks of the Yellowstone River in Billings, Mont., in 1962. It is given to those KOA campgrounds that attained the very top scores in both customer service and the KOA quality review. KOA surveys hundreds of thousands of campers each year regarding their KOA camping experience.

“Everything we do at KOA is centered on providing the best possible camping experience to our millions of guests each year,” said KOA president Pat Hittmeier.

“We have wonderful owners, managers and staff working on their parks every day to provide that great experience, and listening closely to the desires of their campers. I’m so proud to be able to recognize that effort with our KOA president’s and founder’s awards.”
