I heard about this wonderful operation on behalf of our troops, while reading Macleans Magazine. This member of our Invisible Army has worked hard to produce some amazing results. I contacted Cheri at work in Ottawa and this is the e mail she sent me. There are other great support sites on the links within the letter. Canadians Supporting Canadians with Pride.
Hi Robby,
Thank you for your interest in To the Stan and Back. This initiative has evolved over the last 18 months. My son has just returned from Afghanistan and that is where the heart of this project comes from. I began by meeting with businesses and individuals in Brandon MB. and continued to do this after moving to Ottawa. I am currently in the midst of securing the gift certificates.
Some of the corporations that have donated include Murray Chevrolet Cadillac, TD Bank and International Fire Fighters Association. DArcy Baker Money Management has donated accounting services and Staples has donated printing services.
Several individuals have also given. Party Under the Stars had various contributors for the evening that raised over $8,000. A News Release for that event is attached. For additional information you can go to Government House Leader Jay Hills website: www.jayhillmp.com under Support Our Troops.
I would like to encourage anyone who would like to contribute to our troops to do so. All monies and certificates are accounted for by DArcy Barker Money Management Counsel out of Brandon MB. I am currently working with the DND in organizing distribution.
I wanted a tangible way to say thank you our troops for their selfless service to our country.
The response I have received thus far would indicate that I am not alone in my desire to honour the Canadian Forces through this gesture.
I thank you for your support of our troops. I can tell you that they appreciate it as do I!
My Challenge now to CEO's and all readers of this Blog. Look into your corporate and personal charitable hearts. Let us help Cheri help our troops with gift certificate donations.
It is with great sadness that I announce the 1000th US Soldier has been killed in Afghanistan. May he Rest in Peace. Our allies also lose loved ones.
