New Padre General for Canadian Military

A new Chaplain General for Canada: COGS member appointed Chaplain General

Anglican Church of Canada

April 2010 -

The Rev. Karl McLean, a member of the Council of General Synod for the past two triennia, has been appointed Chaplain General of the Canadian Armed Forces.

What follows is the Department of National Defence announcement of the appointment.

The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence, is pleased to announce the selection of Padre Karl McLean as the next Canadian Forces Chaplain General. Colonel McLean will be promoted to the rank of Brigadier-General and assume command of the Chaplain Branch later this year, succeeding Brigadier-General David C. Kettle, who will retire.

Chaplains provide the men and women of our Canadian Forces with the moral and spiritual support that they require in their service to the nation, said Minister MacKay. Padre McLean brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience that will give him unique insight in this crucial leadership role.

Padre McLean's experiences in the Canadian Forces (CF) chaplaincy include serving as a unit, wing and base chaplain in several locations; as the Chief Instructor at the Canadian Forces Chaplain School and Centre; and as the Command Chaplain for both the Army and the Air Force. His international experiences include deploying as a Brigade Chaplain in Bosnia-Herzegovina and serving as the Senior NATO Chaplain with the Stabilization Force in the capital of Sarajevo.

Colonel McLean has previously served in the Office of the Chaplain General as the Director Chaplain Administration Education and Training; the Director of Chaplain Operations; and, most recently, the Chief of Staff.

The Chaplain General heads the multi-faith Chaplain Branch and advises the Chief of the Defence Staff and the Chief of Military Personnel on matters related to the moral and spiritual well-being of personnel and their families in all aspects of their lives. He or she serves a two-year term and is responsible for recruiting, training and managing the ministry of chaplains within the CF.

May the Lord be with our new Chaplain General as he carries out his duties.

I have searched many sites to find a current cap badge of the Combined forces Chaplaincy, but had no luck. this is the description of the new Badges:

On 24 September, 2006, the Department of National Defence issued a press release indicating that, [i]n order to better represent the diversity of Canadian society, and reflect the multi-faith nature of todays chaplaincy, the current Branch cap badge would be replaced with three new badges. The new badges would retain the crowned wreath of red maple leaves and central blue circle; the Maltese Cross behind the circle would be removed. On the circle would be a different symbol for each faith tradition: for Christian chaplains, the Maltese cross, which has long been associated with Christian chaplaincy. Jewish chaplains will wear the symbol of the tablets of the Law and the Magen David (the star of David) and Muslim chaplains will wear the crescent. A scroll with the motto VOCATIO AD SERVITIUM would be placed below the circle.[2] These badges were approved by the Canadian Heraldic Authority on 15 March, 2006

The Stratford School Name Interview with Captain Hunter has been postponed.

I was informed today that the interview was pushed back to another day or so because of the PEI Legislature news. So they could run (one on the athelete and one on Capt Peters) this Friday or next Monday. I guess Compass starts at 1700 hrs and goes to 1830 hrs and I believe you can't watch it live - just in a recorded state after it has been aired.

Regards

Captain Terry Hunter CD, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.

Thousands join cleavage protest of Iranian cleric By Lesley Ciarula Taylor

Staff Reporter

Tens of thousands of women have signed up online to flaunt their cleavage this Monday in the face of an Iranian clerics comments, with the numbers growing by the minute.

Jen McCreight threw out the challenge last Monday on her blog, blaghag.com, and by Thursday more than 33,000 women joined the cause from all over on two separate Facebook sites.

What provoked her was a comment from Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi, who was quoted on April 16 as saying Many women who do not dress modestly . . . lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes.

Her challenge:

On Monday, April 26th, I will wear the most cleavage-showing shirt I own. Yes, the one usually reserved for a night on the town. I encourage other female skeptics to join me and embrace the supposed supernatural power of their breasts. Or short shorts, if that's your preferred form of immodesty. With the power of our scandalous bodies combined, we should surely produce an earthquake.

You with me girls?

PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS

What's with the Padre General headline followed by Chaplain General which is the correct designation? br Then it's followed by some absurd article about cleavage issues in Iran and finally it all ends with a banner that reads Please Show Your Support For Our Troops br What has Iranian cleavage got to do with military issues? br Do our troops need support to enhance their cleavages?
