Karzai Comments BIG News ! ! !.... G20-G8 Summit Security

If Hamid Karzai actually threatened the NATO allies with joining the taliban, then it is time for NATO to pull out completely and let him govern under the cowardly taliban. This would be terrible for the Women and Children as well as ordinary Afghan nationals who are sick and tired of War and Corruption in their land. The other choice is to replace him ASAP.

Mainstream media reported that Karzai told some Afghan parliamentarians that continued foreign meddling might prompt him to join the Taliban

Peter J. Thompson/National PostPrime Minister Stephen Harper made his comments about Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai after an infrastructure announcement in Mississauga, just west of Toronto.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper condemned Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai Wednesday for making completely unacceptable remarks against the West while Canadians are putting their lives on the line for his people in the war against the Taliban.

Karzai has stirred concern around the world with a string of remarks that include blaming foreigners for fraud in Afghanistan's presidential election and accusing the West of wanting a weak puppet government in Kabul. Mainstream media also reported that he told some Afghan parliamentarians that continued foreign meddling might prompt him to join the Taliban - a statement Karzai's spokesman denied Wednesday.

A professor who teaches Security and dispenses his wisdom to the news media, made a statement today about the security for the G20 and G8 Summits being held soon in Canada. He feels that this is an affront to freedom of speech. He does not feel that we require the amount of security that has been released to the press. He says that protesters are expected at all summits, and that this is their right. He is correct that here in Canada protests do have the right to protest . However the host Government also has the right to protect leaders and staff attending the conferences. I can tell him for a fact that I personally had the privilege of attending 5 G7 summits as they were known. Well prior to 9/11.

Even in the 80s security was tight. As an example in Bonn at the 84 summit in Bonn. Ied's as they are now known were discovered in Fire Extinguishers at a leader's hotel. There wasa Bicycle tied innocently to a lamp post along one route to the summit and it was filled with explosives and shrapnel.

So for this professor to say that security is not needed must check his sources. On the news broadcast where he was interviewed they showed video of Anarchist's burning cars, breaking windows. Well I for one do not wish to see this in Canada's streets. For the record I was privileged to attend G conferences in Bonn Houston, Paris, Japan. Each summit had their share of protestors including the Brocolli producers of the USA at the Houston Summit. Sadly security is required and I for one feel safer that we have the Military, RCMP and local police forces who are professional in their duties.

Canada to send 90 additional training soldiers to Afghanistan, MacKay Murray Brewster, THE CANADIAN PRESS

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Canada will send an additional 90 troops to Afghanistan to help train both the fledgling army and local police forces.

Defence Minister Peter MacKay made the surprise announcement in Kabul, only one day after Prime Minister Stephen Harper unleashed blistering criticism of President Hamid Karzai. The prime minister took Karzai to task for his recent anti-Western rants and a reported suggestion that he might join the Taliban, if pressure from his allies to curb corruption doesn't ease up.

Nevertheless, Ottawa stepped forward with the extra soldiers, answering a call from NATO to boost training of Afghan security forces.

The Government of Canada is proud to contribute additional Canadian Forces personnel to prepare Afghans in order to build a stable, strong and peaceful nation, which they deserve, MacKay said in a statement.

Some of the reinforcements will be sent to the NATO training centre in Kabul, while others are expected to bolster training forces in Kandahar and help at the Canadian task force headquarters.

The additions bring the number of Canadian troops and aircrew in Afghanistan to almost 3,000.

MacKay says the trainers will stay until Canada begins drawing down its forces, starting in July of next year.

Now it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks in Afghanistan, I pray that we lose no Canadian lives.
