Red Friday Let's show our Support to our Troops....

With the hard slogging going on in Afghanistan on day 7 of the current advance. It is good news that the top taliban commander has been captured in Pakistan.

Let us hope that he feels the strong arm of the Law his punishment should be as great as his war crimes.

Wirh the good news of this captured commander, it seems strange to see taliban Jack's minions trying to put a civil check on the Canadian Military. How dare they do they have no respect for the Professionalism of our troops. Who daily face trials that politicos in Ottawa will more than likely never face.

New Democrats are urging new measures to put a tighter civilian rein on the military.

They're calling for the creation of a civilian inspector general's office and the appointment of a civilian as judge advocate general, the top military legal officer.

At a news conference Thursday in Ottawa, NDP defence critic Jack Harris said there aren't enough mechanisms to ensure the military is fully accountable.

An inspector general with the power to look at procurement, conduct audits, investigate complaints and report directly to Parliament would help close that gap, he said.

Paul Dewar, the NDP foreign affairs critic, said Thursday that a civilian judge advocate general would increase public confidence in military justice.

Harris said the appointments would reinforce civilian control.

What we need is a stronger civilian oversight to ensure accountability to all Canadians, Harris said. Creating this position of the inspector general would boost the integrity and efficiency of the Canadian Forces and boost confidence inside and outside the military.

In my opinion No civilian should be judging the military. The military must be judged by their peers and by the military laws in Military Law books. Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2010/02/18/ndp-military-oversight.html#ixzz0fvbjZC8d

So to all of our troops scattered around the Globe, Afghanistan. Haiti, Gulf of Aden and yes the Olympics. Keep on being proud professional Canadians.

Robby you really need to get a grip on your way of thinking. In twenty years of service I've seen so many people get off charges because they screwed up the case or the MP's screwed up or they took to long to charge someone.Do you think that the Col up in Trenton should be judge by the military. We are not in the 70's anymore!Other forces(bigger than the CF) have civillans in this position. Now,as far as your name calling I think maybe you should grow up and take a look around!
