To all Serving Mothers, at Home Mothers and the Loving Mothers who have lost a son or Daughter in Service to Canada. Tomorrow Sunday is Mother's day in North America, it was last month in some of our European allies countries. Although celebrated on different days in different countries, the thoughts and prayers remain the same. A big THANKYOU to my own Mother and Grandmother for watching over me.
Women in the Canadian Forces (CF) have served proudly in the defence of Canada and on peace-support operations for many years. Integration efforts, equality and rights of women in the military have undergone significant and meaningful changes over the past few years.
Indeed, female soldiers currently deployed with TFK are working in a wide variety of occupations. These include such jobs as vehicle mechanics, supply technicians, armoured vehicle drivers and gunners, administrative clerks and staff officers. Many of these soldiers occupy key leadership roles.
Being away from home for an extended period of time is never easy, for either the soldiers or their families. However, special occasions like Mother's Day are even more difficult.

Being a mom is a tough job, but being a mom in the military and being here in Afghanistan is tougher

Then we have the Mother's at home in Canada, members of our Invisible Army.
Then we have the 118 Mothers who will not have the opportunity to share the day with a Son or Daughter who was killed in Afghanistan. To each and everyone of these Mothers a special prayer for them to ease the heartbreak. There is nothing worse than losing a child. God Bless them everyone.
