Stress...PTSD..whatever caused it, we have lost another Soldier.

Major Michelle Mendes , was shipped home in 2006 after being part of a team that was strafed by US Forces.

I Personally do not like the term Friendly Fire however it is a sad part of our military vocabulary.

Major Michelle Mendes was on her second tour of duty in Afghanistan. She had been med evaced home in Sept 2006 after being in the area of a Friendly Fire strike , which killed one canadian and wounded a lot more. Was it the correct thing to do sending her back especially if she had been suffering from PTSD. This is something we will never know. So another Soldier dies in Afghanistan. Major Michelle Mendes. What a waste of a young life so full of promise. May she Rest In Peace, may her family be at peace within themselves, knowing she is with the Lord, at peace.

Major Michelle Mendes

The FF incident in 2006 Killed 1 , with 30 soldiers wounded.

Pte Mark-Anthony Graham.

Fellow soldiers saddened at the news still had to carry out their duties, in this Combat Zone.

Even as Cpl Blais is buried , and Major Mendes will be repatriated, our Gallant Troops carry on, as soldiers are wont to do.

Several hundred mourners packed into a church in eastern Quebec Friday morning for the funeral of Cpl. Karine Blais, who was killed in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan last week.

Residents of Les Mchins remembered Cpl Blais, 21, as a woman with a warm smile who wanted to be in the Canadian Forces.

Blais was just two weeks into her first tour of duty in Afghanistan when she was killed April 13.

She was serving with the 2nd Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment also known as the Van Doos but was a member of the 12e Rgiment blind du Canada. Blais received an honorary, posthumous promotion to the rank of corporal.

About 100 of her former colleagues from the Rgiment blind took part in the Catholic funeral. Father Jacques-Daniel Boucher, who led the service, said the simple ceremony reflected Blais's character.

Karine, you passed through our lives like a breeze, Cpl. Eric Simard, a fellow member of Blais's 12e Rgiment blind du Canada, told mourners. Bon voyage, little angel.

Please remember and show your support for our troops, doing difficult things in a difficult land.

This death is sadder than most. Simply because of the unknown factors of PTSD. The Canadian Government is very slow in providing effective counselling in these matters. Sad thet one Trooper is burried and a second is repatriated. Think Canada ! !! What this does to the roops still in theatre. God Rest the souls of our departed. We will never forget them 118 thus far.
