CNN reports a cost of $750,000 per year per soldier in Afghanistan...what is canada's cost?

I watched CNN today and they announced that the costs for their troops in Iraq has reached a trillion dollars. The yearly cost for one soldier either in Iraq or Afganistan is $750,000. I googled many sites trying to find out Canadas costs per soldier, with no luck. However as I am sure the majority of us cannot fathom figures like Billions and trillions perhaps the e mail from my Brother Joe will assist in our understanding.

All this talk about stimulus packages and bailouts...

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2 thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun.

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet...

And $1 BILLION dollars... now we're really getting somewhere...

Next we'll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we've been hearing about so much. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it's a million million. It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.

You ready for this?

It's pretty surprising.

(And notice those pallets are double stacked.)

So the next time you hear someone toss around the phrase trillion dollars... that's what they're talking about.

Hey Rob, br So, if we look at Canada's price tag on Afganistan at the end of 2011.The Federal gov put the numbers at 18 billion. In the pic above 1 billion is ten skids. In 2011 that will mean Canada will have donated 180 skids.Other then are brave members of the CF that manage to make it home alive. Can someone tell me why we are cutting so many lives short and spending so much $ during these tuff times on a country that does not want to come out of the dark ages. br We can't allow that Gov in Afganistan to keep calling the shots for Nato.If we are not given more freedom to do the mission we started out to do then we should leave! br Red Friday Support The Troops
