He is a young soldier who has only been there a few weeks, and has been on foot patrol every evening! Everytime I hear that a soldier has been killed, my heart sinks and I cry...for my best friend and for the families and friends of all the soldiers who are in Afghanistan. I am unable to sleep tonight, and am trying to wait patiently by the computer, hoping that my friend sends me an e-mail like he does every morning to let me know he is okay. Yes, the politics surrounding our soldiers being in Afghanistan until at least 2011 sucks, but I hope people never forget, that our troops need our love and support right now!!!

And at Home

EDMONTON (CBC) - Military police are investigating the death of a soldier at a military base in Edmonton, a military spokesman said Sunday.

The soldier, whose identity has not been made public, was discovered Saturday in his room at an Edmonton Garrison barracks. The incident is now being investigated by military police, Capt. Mark Peebles of Land Force Western Area told the Canadian Press.

Peebles declined to provide more details, but said the military has notified the soldier's family and are providing support to them.

No matter where it occurs the loss of a soldier is terrible.

I sure all of us extend our sympathy and condolences to the Family of this fallen soldier. We also want to thank him and his fellow soldiers for their sacrifice as they continue to fight for our freedom.

On another sad note, it should be noted that in this newspaper there is a story indicating that Leo Broderick believes that only civil disobedience will stop this war. Pardon me, but is this not how all wars begin. Mr. Broderick and his merry band of looneys should give their head a shake. It seems to me that a suggestion such as this, is a step in the direction of treason. If he cant stand back and support the Troops, he should try leading them from the front.
