It seems that as we moved from a Combat Role in Afghanistan that most Canadians are forgetting about Red Fridays. These were created by wives and Mothers of our troops. As i meet people I ask why they are not wearingRed? I either receive a blank stare or a question what do you mean?
Red Friday shows visible support for our Military. Perhaps we are not currently in a Combat Role. We are still committed around the world so C'mon Canada show your support.
Today the headline is about the prisoners released today and over the next few weeks from Afghan prisons.

Correctional Services Canada, Her Majesties Prison Services of the UK have been teaching Afghanis how a modern 21st Century prison should operate. Gone are the deep dark holes of the medieval prisons in Afghanistan. In order for a free democratic society prisons needed CHANGE. this has been accomplished by the men and women of the allied prison services. Civilians yes. In a dangerous country in dangerous circumstance.

So as we show our Pride in the military we must also remember the countless civilian agencies who are working on behalf of Canada.
