I am saddened that Canada allowed Local Afghans, Pakistanis and others move these containers. In a land filled with thieves and smugglers, the moment the containers left Kandahar, they became prime targets for the insurgents.
I Followed the CBC Poll on the following question;
Do you believe missing Canadian military equipment is ending up in the hands of the Taliban?
When I answered yes the poll was 71.7 percent yes
11.32 Percent NO
and naturally in Canada the undecided Vote 16.98 percent.
HAving lived and worked in and around these countries for 15 years. When I had cargo coming by Road or Rail I had each pallet shrink wrapped in BLACK Plastic. This simply cut down on the number of thefts at rest stops with the vehicles.
Canad and Canadians should indeed be concerned about these missing and replaced cargoes.
The taliban would like nothing better than kitting insurgents out in Canadian uniforms.
As a proud former member of the RCASC who in the old days would have had the task of transporting these containers. I shake thinking of the low lifes hired because of budgetary restraints.
Each country in ISAF could help one another with vehicles and security.
On a better note HMCS Vancouver had pointed her bow homeward.
Please support our Troops and their families, who may soon be in Iran or Syria on behalf of NATO and the UN.
