Mindless Hooligans in Calgary and elsewhere

Remembrance Week brings em out ! ! ! !

Across Canada on 11/11/11 We shall Remember

The Other side of Gadhaffi

Last week it was a half dozen boxes of poppy money STOLEN from Tim Hortons across Canada. This week end it was the mindless graffiti and senseless destruction of a new Place of remembrance for our Veterans  of the Afghan war, recently built in Calgary

Calgarians have long supported our military and have a proud record of military service amonst it's citizenry.

It is so cruel to see the damages done by mindless hooliogans.

my friend and  ex apprentice Dave Davies sent me the story, to share.

I have just finished my book about the Soldier Apprentices and the majority of men who sent me their  personal memories: Stated that the worst thing the Liberal Government ever did was to cancel the Soldier Apprentice Plan.

Surely in todays economy and in todays problematic world of our Youth. We can, and should reinstate a full program of military apprenticeship. The 14 years that the program ran created some fine tradesmen, some fine  NCO'S and surpriseingly some very fine Officers. In the civilian world after the military we have had MP's. MLA's, CEO's and a  large variety of outstanding hard working Canadians.

However my Rant today is not on the greatness of the soldier apprentice plan , but aimed at the  cowardly people who steal Poppy Money and deface places of remembrance.

As I stated a few years ago in this column. "If I were the Judge" I would sentence each and everone to 30 days labour cleaning up all cenotaphs and memorials in a 100 mile radius. They would sleep in the ditch in a sleeping bag and poncho. Eat outdoors rain or shine. Perhaps then they may partially understand what soldiers go through, in order that they have freedom.

Once again WELCOME HOME to all of our men and women who served on the Libyan mission. Enjoy your families and home time.

Today's PDF came to me from a Veteran, Old Friend and ex apprentice George Girling, as the late Andy Rooney would have said here is the other side of the news story:

As Nov 11 draws ever closer please say a prayer or a few words for our Troops and their families members of the Invisible Army.
