As the new Pier 21 Immigration Museum opens officially in Halifax. I cannot help but think of the Immigrants that served Canada in war and peace.
In the year 1960 when I joined up. You had to be either a landed immigrant or a Commonwealth Citizen to sign up. Now you must be a Canadian Citizen. This is a normal eveolution. In my year of Apprentice Soldiers we had a polish born Apprentice, a German, 2 English, 2 Scots and an Austrian. There were never anyproblems about where one was born.
I notice that today our Canadian youth that sign on, quite a few are first or second Generation Immigrants. This is Great.

" N " Duh whats your point ? ? ? As Robby so aptly pointed out the nannifying of the Immigrants Status is ridculous. Why pander to each and every whim..they must learn that to become Canadians they must stand on their own feet. If that means learning a new language in a new country then so be it. Duke
