Mid Week Meandering 20 October 2010

Stadacona Concert Tonight
NATO Statistics and Map

A tragic month thus far in Afghanistan with 10 days remaining.  The latest CBC  article said that 37 NATO soldiers have been killed. This in itself is tragic. Yet no one mentions the stressors that are placed on the members of the Invisible army. Hearing the news -__ NATO soldier killed in Afghanistan. No details of country at this point.

This alone creates  more worry and thoughts of a loved one serving in Afghanistan. Praying that the casualty is not a loved one.

I realise that the media cannot release a name or details until the NOK is notified, but we can say a prayer for members of the Invisible army and give a hug or call to someone you know that has a loved one serving in theses dangerous areas of the world.

So, the red rally will be in Charlottetown at the DVA where of course there is no parking and alot of workers that I'm sure will be told to attend. The Invisible Army that I don't understand.Funny, I have a brother in the CF right now and I have done 25 yrs aswell.CUP= Credit Union Place.Question, what is there to bring a retired veteran into a legion to be come a member?Take away the VLT's and more than half will close.I belong to a Lions clubl. They do a hell of alot more then any Legion. You are right by saying that the Legions are being run by people that have never been in the CF.This is why I chose to stay away from them. And as far as the events at the CUP it was in the papers!

Sadly the new Blog setup does not allow me to answer privately. This message is for to long waiting. 1-The Nov 05 Red Rally was supposed to be held in S/S this year up until last week. For some reason it had to be changed and the DVA atrium is available 2- The Invisible Army. I feel you do not understand the concept of the Invisible Army they are the Spouses, Mothers, Fathers Children of our serving troops. They do not wear a uniform nor Identity badge. They may well have been at your S/S events. 3- The Island has members of the Invisible Army from Tignish to Souris. 4- As for attending CUP I have no idea what that is. As for not attending anything in S/S. I have been on this Island 4 years and have never seen such insulated. unwelcoming Legions. I transferred my membership a week after arriving. To this day I have not seen nor heard from any welcoming committee member. Sadly it seems the majority of Legionaires on this island are the new breed and non Veterans. I did an Interview with Peter MacKay Remembrance Sunday 2 years back at the Kensington Legion. There was but 2 Legionaires in Blazer and flannels. yet a group of drinkers who were apparently members when I asked the Bar Tender. So sadly I say if you wish Veterans to attend your events first advise them of dates times and Venues, offer a handshake and conversation. Thank you for your comment. Robby

Just wondering if any of these things ever take place anywhere else on the Island then Charlottetown???Were any people of the Invisible army at the CUP Summerside when are veterans open the new wing there?I think that If you want us to support the Invisible army then start driving and show up at other places in PEI.I will be standing in Summerside for Nov 11.It would be nice to see and talk to the Invisible army there to maybe give them some new ideas on how to get them more interested in the rest of our Island. Then maybe we can make are way down to there location perhaps for a red rally!!
