Nissan's 2021 Versa will start at less than $16,500 in Canada

Nissan’s 2021 Versa will start under $16,500 in Canada, making it amongst the most affordable new vehicles sold here despite its now having more technology and more safety systems as standard.

Now in its third generation, the Versa features a 1.6-litre four-cylinder that produces 122 horsepower, a 12-per-cent bump from the previous generation.

Fuel economy for automatic models is rated at 7.4 L/100 km city, 5.9 L/100 km highway, and 6.7 L/100 km combined. Fuel economy with the five-speed manual transmission is rated at 8.6 L/100 km city, 6.7 L/100 km highway, and 7.7 L/100 km combined.

The base model Versa S starts at just CDN$16,498, which comes standard with the five-speed manual transmission; adding the Xtronic CVT bumps the price up to CDN$17,998.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite is an available option and features Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection; Rear Automatic Braking; and Lane-Departure Warning. High-Beam Assist is standard on the five-speed manual variant.

Versa SV models receive the Xtronic transmission, as well as Blind-Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Intelligent Driver Alertness, a seven-inch Advanced Drive-Assist Display, and Rear Door Alert are available as options. Versa SV models start at CDN$19,498, and also feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

The sportiest model is the Versa SR, for CDN$20,998, which features 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with 205/50R17 all-season tires, LED headlights, remote engine start, black-painted heated exterior mirrors, body-colour rear spoiler, and SR Seat Fabric with interior trim and accents.

The 2021 Nissan Versa will be available at dealerships in November of 2020.
