A powerful spring storm will race across the Atlantic region Sunday night and Monday.
Wind and rain warnings are in effect.
Periods of rain, at times heavy, will start over western Nova Scotia this evening and spread eastward overnight. A brief period of snow, ice pellets, or freezing rain is possible in northern areas as the precipitation starts.
Total rainfall amounts will range between 25 and 60 millimetres everywhere except along the Northumberland Strait.
For Cape Breton Island as well as Halifax and Guysborough counties in Nova Scotia, wind gusts from the southeast are likely to reach up to 90 kilometres an hour.
Higher-than-normal water levels and pounding surf are possible at high tide Monday morning along the Atlantic Coast from Yarmouth to Canso, N.S.
