Energy spotted off the coast of Africa on Sept. 7 was christened Teddy one week later.
Teddy was the earliest 19th named Atlantic storm on record. By the 17th, Teddy became a major hurricane, intensifying to a category four storm. Thankfully, as advertised, Teddy weakened to a post-tropical storm about 12 hours before making landfall between Sheet Harbour and Holland Harbour, N.S. between 8 and 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Storm surge and large breaking waves pounded south-facing coastlines for almost 24 hours as the storm raced across the region. The rainfall came in waves and the wind in gusts. Good riddance Teddy.
