We’re back today with three new Ageless Art submissions from Alma MacLean of P.E.I. and David Powell Newfoundland.
Here’s a bit about the artists, their work and the inspiration behind their submissions.
Alma writes:
I just learned about your grown-up art and thought I'd submit one just for fun. I took painting lessons as a teenager and hadn't had time for it while raising a family. After my husband passed, I wanted something to fill my time, so I thought I'd try it again.
Then I found painting classes and the rest is history.
This picture was printed in the Journal Pioneer back in December 2018 and I just had to try to recreate it. Hope you enjoy my attempt.
And from David, a retiree from St. John’s:
“Retired now for a little while and tried my hand at painting with watercolors. The Cabot Tower one is from a picture I had taken. If you are from St. John's you gotta have a picture of Cabot Tower!” The moon one was taken from a post on Facebook.
Anyway, love your column and love Grandma Says and keep up the weather prognostications.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us, Alma and David.
If you’ve recently discovered your artistic talent or simply picked up a crayon for the first time in years, I’d like to feature your artwork on Weather By Day.
Weather by Day has long featured art by budding young artists, but recently, I have met quite a few “grown-ups” who have picked up crayons, pencils, markers, paint brushes and even fabrics to find their focus.
You can send a photo of a recent work of art along with a line or two about your inspiration or your reason for picking up the crayons after so many years, to [email protected].
