We’re back today with another terrific “grown-up” art submission.

Weather by Day has long featured art by budding young artists, but recently, I have met quite a few “grown-ups” who have picked up crayons, pencils, markers, paint brushes and even fabrics to find their focus.

If you’ve recently discovered your artistic talent or simply picked up a crayon for the first time in years, I’d like to feature your artwork on Weather By Day.

You can send a photo of a recent work of art along with a line or two about your inspiration or your reason for picking up the crayons after so many years, to [email protected].

Today’s featured artist is Ben, from Cow Bay, N.S.

Ben says, “I was super pleased to see your column about the box of crayons.  I have recently started reading your column every day but (sadly for me) I skipped over it for many years thinking it was only a weather prediction. How wrong I was.  Yours is a science column; always interesting, informative, and well written.  I owe you an apology for prejudging your work.

All children love to colour and have creative skills that should be encouraged and nurtured.

I am sending you one of my paintings (weather-related, of course):

“After The Storm – Cow Bay.”

    -BEN

I found this lovely quote at the bottom of Ben’s email;

"An artist cannot speak about his art any more than a plant can discuss horticulture."

– Jean Cocteau
