It was a stormy start to the Lobster season in districts 33 and 34 off Nova Scotia’s South Shore. Dumping Day was postponed until Tuesday and that’s when Dennis Curran took this lovely photo. You can see the tip of Cape LaHave Island in the background.

He and other well-wishers had gathered at Little Harbour Wharf in Cherry Hill, Lunenburg County for the send-off.

I want to wish everyone a safe and prosperous season.

Can you say gorgeous? Ronald O’Toole sent this ‘Sunrise at the Castle’ photo he took on Sept. 17 at Logy Bay, N.L. The sun’s rays look like the petals of a flower as it rises out of the Atlantic Ocean. Logy Bay is located near Torbay and is about 10 minutes from downtown St. John’s.

Judy Doyle sent this photo of deer visiting her property on Cape Breton’s Mira River on Monday morning. She said deer are frequent visitors to the area and yesterday she counted as many as seven walking along the river near her home. The deer silhouetted against the morning sun are a beautiful sight.

Photos are fabulous, but there's something special about an original work of art. This lovely island scene was created by Malliga Nagarajan, of Charlottetown. It's an oil pastel crayon drawing with a reflective late summer vibe. Thank you for sharing your remarkable talent, Malliga.

When hurricane Larry made landfall on the west side of the Avalon on Sept. 11, many things were blown around. Once the storm cleared, Don Simms found this lovely butterfly resting on a sedum in his yard in Mount Pearl, N.L. I wasn't sure what kind of butterfly it was, so I looked it up. Here's what I found. This beauty is a Vanessa Atalanta or red admiral: a medium-sized butterfly with black wings, reddish bands, and white spots.
