CINDY'S SNAPSHOT: Big Sky at Big Island

George Sutherland looked up and was intrigued by the lovely display of clouds over Big Island in Pictou County, N.S. The cloud type is alto-cumulus; a mid-level cloud that is characterized by masses or rolls in layers or patches. The name derives from the Latin words Altus = high and cumulus = mass or heap. The base of the cloud can be anywhere from 2 to 7 thousand metres above the ground.
