Mother Nature favours the Avalon

A blocking area of high pressure over the Avalon will keep things dry over eastern Newfoundland today. A frontal wave approaching from the west will have nowhere to go so showers, drizzle and fog will settle over the Maritimes and western Newfoundland.

  • WIND: SE 15 to 20 knots becoming SE 25 to 30 knots in the afternoon

NORTHUMBERLAND STRAIT - EASTERN HALF: STRONG WIND WARNING

  • WIND: SE 15 to 20 knots becoming SE 25 to 30 knots in the afternoon

GULF – MAGDALEN: STRONG WIND WARNING

  • WIND: S 20 to 25 knots backing to SE 30 knots in the afternoon with gusts to 45 knots from Margaree Harbour to Bay St. Lawrence
  • WAVES: 1 to 2 metres building to 2 to 3 metres in the afternoon and to 3 to 4 metres in the evening
