KENSINGTON, P.E.I. – Dixon MacLeod, Ryan Richards and Colby MacArthur each had three-point nights Saturday as the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild won its 12th straight New Brunswick/Prince Edward Island Major Midget Hockey League game.
The Wild defeated the Saint John Vitos 6-4 at Credit Union Centre in Kensington. The Wild’s last loss in league play came in Moncton on Oct. 14.
Defenceman Zac Arsenault scored twice in Saturday’s victory while MacLeod and Richards each had a goal and two assists. Zach Biggar had a goal and an assist while William Proud rounded out the scoring.
MacArthur had three helpers while Landon Clow and Isaac Wilson each tallied one.
Adam Bowness had three assists to lead Saint John. Drew Elliott, Caleb Kean, Jared Cosman and Isaac Dixon scored for the visitors.
Chad Arsenault made 27 saves for the victory while Nicholas Sheehan stopped 23 shots in the loss.
The Wild held 4-1 and 6-3 period leads. MacLeod scored 5:29 into the game while Biggar and Arsenault made it 3-0 3:39 later.
Kensington was 2-for-4 on the power play and killed all four of the Vitos chances with the man advantage.
The Wild improved to 17-2-1 while the Vitos are 11-8-1. Kensington is in first place, two points up on Moncton (16-1-1), which has played two fewer games than Kensington. Moncton host the Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride (8-10-1) Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The Wild will be attending the CCM Midget AAA Challenge in Chicoutimi, Que., this week.
