SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals have moved back into the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s top-20 rankings.

After outscoring two nationally-ranked teams 14-4 in two home-ice victories at Eastlink Arena over three days, the Caps are ranked 20th in the latest rankings released Monday afternoon. The Caps were unranked last week and were listed at No. 19 two weeks ago.
The Capitals exploded for five unanswered third-period goals en route to a 7-1 victory on Thursday night over the 10th-ranked South Shore Lumberjacks from Bridgewater, N.S. Summerside followed that up with a 7-3 decision versus the ninth-ranked Edmundston Blizzard on Saturday night.
The result left the Caps and Blizzard with identical 8-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) records and in a four-way tie with the Lumberjacks (8-3-0) and Yarmouth Mariners (7-3-2) with 16 points atop the overall standings of the 12-team league.
The Caps are back in action on Monday night in Campbellton, N.B., against the Tigers (4-2-1).
The Blizzard dropped to 18th in this week’s rankings while the Lumberjacks, who picked up a 3-2 win over the Pictou County Crushers (4-4-0) on Saturday, fell out of the top-20 teams but received an honourable mention.
The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League continue to hold down the No. 1 spot. Brooks has won 11 straight games to open the 2019-20 campaign and has won 44 straight regular-season games dating back to last year.
