WOLFVILLE, N.S. – Owen Headrick’s third period power-play goal was the winner Saturday as the UPEI Panthers defeated the Acadia Axemen 5-3 in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

Sam Aulie and Beau McCue each had a goal and an assist while Cody Payne and Doug Blaisdell both had two helpers.

Mitchell Dempsey and Gabe Guertler also scored as the Panthers won both weekend road games in Nova Scotia. Chad Labelle, Austin Levi and Olivier Arseneau each added an assist.

Rodney Southan, Jackson Houck and Stephen Harper scored for Acadia. Kyle Farrell and Garrett McFadden each had two assists.

Simon Hofley made 27 saves for the win while Dawson Carty stopped 16 shots in the loss.

UPEI was 2-for-4 on the power play while Acadia was 3-for-6.

The Panthers improved to 3-3-0 while Acadia is 2-4-0.

The Saint Mary’s Huskies visit MacLauchlan Arena Friday and the Axemen are in town on Saturday, Oct. 27.
