Jordan Nwora scored 22 points to lead No. 1 Louisville to a 58-43 home victory over No. 4 Michigan in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge game on Tuesday night.
The game was a surprising defensive struggle between two teams that had been scoring more than 80 points per game. Both teams were held to their season-low point totals, but Louisville made a few more shots and suffocated Michigan on the defensive end.
The Wolverines shot 25.9 percent (15 of 58) overall and 15.8 percent (3 of 19) from 3-point range. Louisville wasn't much better, shooting 36.7 percent overall (22 of 60) and 21.1 percent (4 of 19) from 3-point range. Nwora shot 9 of 23 and added 12 rebounds for the Cardinals (8-0).
Steven Enoch had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Dwayne Sutton had 11 rebounds for Louisville. Jon Teske produced 18 points and 10 rebounds for Michigan (7-1).
No. 10 Duke 87, No. 11 Michigan State 75
Vernon Carey scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils past the Spartans as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in East Lansing Mich.
Carey also blocked three shots for Duke, and Tre Jones added 20 points and 12 assists for the Blue Devils (8-1). Joey Baker scored 11, Javin DeLaurier added 10 points and Matthew Hurt chipped in 10 for Duke, which also blocked 11 shots.
Xavier Tillman scored 20 for Michigan State (5-3). Marcus Bingham added 13 points, and Cassius Winston scored 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting.
No. 15 Memphis 71, Bradley 56
The host Tigers overcame a poor shooting night by limiting the Braves to 26.8 percent field-goal shooting.
Reserve Alex Lomax paced Memphis (7-1) with 17 points while Boogie Ellis hit for 12. D.J. Jeffries and Tyler Harris scored 10 points each for the Tigers, who converted only 36.1 percent of their attempts from the floor.
Bradley (5-3) saw leading scorer Darrell Brown manage just four points on 1-of-16 shooting. Elijah Childs carried the load for the Braves with game-high totals of 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Danya Kingsby scored 12 points off the bench.
Indiana 80, No. 17 Florida State 64
Devonte Green scored a career-high 30 points, lifting the Hoosiers past the Seminoles in a Big Ten/ACC Challenge game in Bloomington, Ind.
The Hoosiers (8-0) overcame 12 turnovers in the second half and 18 for the game to remain perfect on the season. Trayce Jackson-Davis added 15 points and eight rebounds for Indiana, while Justin Smith scored 14 points.
Trent Forrest led Florida State (7-2) with 13 points. M.J. Walker and Devin Vassell added 10 points apiece for the Seminoles, who saw their seven-game win streak end.
No. 18 Baylor 78, Maryland-Eastern Shore 46
Jared Butler sank five 3-pointers and scored 20 points in the Bears' rout of the winless Hawks at Waco, Texas.
Freddie Gillespie led Baylor (6-1) with 13 rebounds and five blocked shots. Devonte Bandoo added 14 points, Matthew Mayer had 12 points and MaCio Teague finished with 10 points. The Bears limited Maryland-Eastern Shore to 26.6 percent shooting from the field and 26.3 percent (5-for-19) from 3-point range.
The Hawks (0-10) were led Canaan Bartley's 13 points. He was their lone scorer in double figures.
No. 19 Dayton 99, Houston Baptist 68
Obi Toppin had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Trey Landers added 16 points and eight rebounds as the Flyers continued their hot shooting to pull away from the visiting Huskies.
Sophomore Chase Johnson had a career-high 18 points, and Jalen Crutcher and Ibi Watson had 12 points apiece for the Flyers (6-1). Dayton entered the rankings this week for the first time since 2016, when it topped out at No. 15.
Ian DuBose had 18 points, and Jalon Gates had 16 points and four 3-pointers for Houston Baptist (0-6).
No. 24 Butler 67, Mississippi 58
Kamar Baldwin buried eight of his first nine shots and finished with a season-high 31 points to lead the Bulldogs past the Rebels in Oxford, Miss.
Baldwin, the MVP of the 2019 Hall of Fame Classic, shot 11 of 16 overall, 4 of 5 from 3-point territory and 5 of 5 on free throws. He also had six rebounds, three assists and did not commit a turnover for Butler (8-0).
Breein Tyree scored 22 points for Mississippi (5-3), and Khadim Sy finished with 12 points.
