SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — Hannah Taylor brought home a silver medal from a major international wrestling competition recently.

Taylor, a graduate of Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside, was part of Team Canada’s senior women’s team at the Pan American championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Taylor earned a berth in the competition with a gold-medal performance at the recent Canadian senior wrestling championships in Saskatoon, Sask.

At the Pan American championships, Taylor won two of her three matches. Her lone loss came via a pin against two-time Olympian Lissette Antes Castillo of Ecuador in the gold-medal match of the 57-kilogram weight category. There were 11 countries represented in this division.
Taylor rallied to defeat Betzabeth Rebeca Sarco Colmenarez of Venezuela in the quarter-finals. Taylor trailed at one point 8-4 before pulling off the come-from-behind win in the last 17 seconds of the match.
In the semifinals, Taylor won with a pin in the first round against Nes Marie Rodriquez Tirado of Puerto Rico.
