SYDNEY, N.S. — Cape Breton's Joey Haddad will play the 2020-21 hockey season in South Carolina after he was added to the roster of the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Thursday.

Contract information was not released.

The 32-year-old forward from Sydney has spent the last six seasons with the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League in the United Kingdom. He was left teamless last month after the league suspended operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 289 career games with the Devils, Haddad recorded 109 goals and 246 points. He won two EIHL Cup championships with the team in 2015 and 2017.

In 46 games last season, Haddad had 29 goals and 57 points along with 30 penalty minutes and a plus-11 rating.

The Swamp Rabbits are the ECHL affiliate for the Charlotte Checkers (AHL) and Florida Panthers (NHL).
