SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals have moved up in Saturday’s draft.

The Caps completed a trade Monday with the Campbellton Tigers of the Maritime Junior Hockey League and announced defenceman Sid McNeill as their lone territorial pick.

They acquired a second-round pick (21st overall) and an eight-round pick, which originally belonged to Valley, in this year’s draft, plus sixth- and eighth-round picks in 2021. In return, Campbellton receives Summerside’s fourth-round pick this year, plus the Caps’ second- and third-round picks in 2021.

Summerside has nine picks in this year’s draft, including one at the end of the third round for only use one territorial pick.

McNeill, 16, is a five-foot-seven, 137-pound Summerside native who was limited to one game this season with the Oakland Junior Grizzlies in Michigan for medical reasons. The Halifax Mooseheads selected him in the 13th round of Saturday’s Quebec Major Junior Hockey League draft.

The draft begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
