CORNWALL, P.E.I. — Cornwall's Jordan Spence was awarded the Raymond-Lagacé trophy Tuesday as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's defensive rookie of the year.

The presentation was made prior to Spence and his Moncton Wildcats teammates playing the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Game 3 of their best-of-seven playoff series in Moncton.

The former Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capital and Charlottetown Bulk Carriers Pride major midget had six goals, 43 assists and a plus-11 in 68 games with the Wildcats. The now 18-year-old blue-liner was drafted in second round, 20th overall, by Moncton in 2018 after going undrafted in 2017.
