Screaming Eagles shut out Islanders to win Game 3

SYDNEY, N.S. — Kevin Mandolese stopped all 26 shots he faced and Egor Sokolov scored the only goal of the game Tuesday as the host Cape Breton Screaming Eagles got back in their playoff series with the Charlottetown Islanders.

The Screaming Eagles won Game 3 1-0 and will look to tie the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League series at home Wednesday night. Game time is 7 p.m.

Overage players Wilson Forest and Mitchell Balmas, a former Islanders first-round pick, assisted on Sokolov’s winner at 16:26 of the second period.

Matthew Welsh made 22 stops in the loss for Charlottetown.

Cape Breton was 0-for-3 on the power play while killing Charlottetown’s two chances.
