SYDNEY, N.S. — NHL hall of famer Al MacInnis of Port Hood stepped back on the ice and turned back the clock at the 2020 NHL All-Star SuperSkills Competition on Friday at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Mo.

With wooden stick in hand, the 56-year-old MacInnis ripped a slapshot of 100.4 miles per hour before the participants began the competition. Anyone who shot above 100.4 mph, a $5,000 donation would be made by the NHL to a charity of the players’ choice.

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Shea Weber won the event at 106.5 mph. Five of the six participants bested MacInnis’ mark: John Carlson of the Washington Capitals (104.5); Elias Petterson of the Vancouver Canucks (102.4); Mark Giordano of the Calgary Flames (102.1) and Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning (102.1). Seth Jones of the Columbus Blue Jackets shot 98.8 mph.

During his playing career, MacInnis has won the competition seven times.
